Yes, electric underfloor heating mats are perfect for installing in bathrooms. They provide a pleasant warmth under the tiles, which are often cold. In addition, such a system helps to prevent the accumulation of moisture on the surface of the floor.
The energy consumption of electric floor heating mats depends on the size of the room, the level of insulation and the regulation of the heating system. On average, electric floor heating mats consume around 100-150 W/m², but with the right thermostat adjustment, energy use can be optimized and costs can be saved.
Electric floor heating mats can be installed under various floor coverings such as ceramic tiles, stone, laminate and parquet. It is important to choose the right heating mats, depending on the type of coating, to ensure optimal heating and durability.
Electric floor heating mats are thin, flexible heating systems designed to be installed under the floor covering. Heating mats are used to heat the floor and at the same time provide comfortable room heating. They work by transferring heat from electricity directly to the surface of the floor, making the floor pleasantly warm.
The minimum distance from the wall when laying the heating mat is at least 5 cm.
The heating mat cannot be shortened.
Electric underfloor heating mats are the fastest and easiest way to install underfloor heating. They are installed directly under tiles or laminate, do not require a concrete layer and are ready to use from day one. Below you will find everything you need to know to choose the right mat.
100 W/m² – suitable where the floor is already heated or the room is well insulated. Heats up more slowly, uses less electricity.
150 W/m² – suitable for both main and additional heating. Recommended for kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and rooms with high heat losses. Heats up faster, provides more intense heat.
Baths – the mat is installed under the tiles, is more resistant to moisture, raises the floor level minimally. We recommend 100–150 W/m². Sizes from 0.5 m² – suitable even for small bathroom floors.
For the kitchen – due to the large area and poor insulation, kitchen floors are often cold. We recommend a 150 W/m² mat under the tiles. Installation is simple: lay out, apply glue, and tile.
For bedroom and living room – laminate is more often used here. We recommend 100 W/m² with a programmable thermostat – you set the heating for the morning and return, no electricity is wasted during idle hours. Important: the thermal resistance of the laminate must be ≤ 0.15 m²K/W.
Perfect for: ceramic tiles, laminate, vinyl and LVT.
Caution: hardwood parquet – maximum floor temperature cannot exceed 27°C, a floor temperature sensor is required.
Not suitable: carpets – heat is not transferred, there is a risk of overheating.
Always check the packaging of the flooring – it should state that the flooring is compatible with heated floors.
The mat is not installed under solid-base furniture – sofa, wardrobe, bed. Therefore, the heated area usually consists of 60-80% of the total room area.
Example: A 10 m² kitchen will require a mat of about 6–8 m². Mats are made in fixed sizes, the mesh can be cut (not the cable) to fit into corners. If the shape of the room is complex, it is better to choose heating cable, which can be laid in a free trajectory.
