Floor heating in a loft-type apartment in Vilnius

The customer's goal was to quickly and inexpensively install a heating system that would be efficient, would not require additional annual costs, and would have low heating system costs. Our proposal was simple - floor heating with infrared film.

Infrared film heating

In loft-type apartments, the ceilings are of non-standard height (over 4 meters), so we selected a more powerful model of infrared film. Since the heating film is not installed under stationary furniture (beds, wardrobes, kitchen sets), after consulting with the customer, we marked the places where the need for underfloor heating is not possible, and in other places we stretched the strips. The total area covered by the heating element is 12.5 sq. m.

The heating system was selected for control smart and programmable thermostat with WIFI function, thus effectively distributing electricity costs. We set the customer-friendly hours in the thermostat, during which the lower temperature of 18-19°C will be maintained (during work hours when not at home, at night) and the higher temperature of 22°C (on weekends, after working hours).

Advantages of underfloor heating

• Independent control of the heating system on demand;
• Very large floor heating area;
• Low electricity consumption due to the large heated floor area;
• Cheap installation work.

Products used: terminals, butyl insulating tape to isolate contacts, wires, protective film, floor heating thermostat with WIFI at Infrared film 150W/m², used 5 mm thermal insulation underlay under laminate and parquet.
